Chewing the Cud...

Morning gals and pals. I'm getting my act together today... nice and early :) don't you just love starting your day early??

This week has been a bit of a whirl-wind here at the store. We just finished up two incredible custom wedding suites for some of the most lovely clients and are so excited for them! They each get married tomorrow (right, you're thinking, leave it to you girls to pick up two of the biggest projects of the year with the same deadline :) But every last detail was so worth it!!

We also did a fab table setup for Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation Event this week. Such a fun project, a little out of our usual routine, but for such an incredible cause. If you have never heard of it, I would highly recommend checking it out. Tickets always sell out so quickly, but I think that it is a great event to participate in because it bring many talented chefs together under one big tent in the summer time!! I'll be posting pictures on our facebook page soon!

We have also been getting tons of super cool and fly and fresh new goodies here at the shop. All of those special orders from the Stationery Show are finally rolling in... yipppeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Today I'm spotlighting Chewing the Cud, because their fabric gift wrap and letterpress lovelies make me SWOON! It's amazing how far a simple concept can go with the right textiles :) Based in Oakland, California the fabulous designer behind this line has a good sense of what I'm all about... and what I think you are all about too! Bright colors, blind letterpress printing, and the final little details that make her goodies impossible to not take right home with you!

These adorable little bundles here are an extension of Cud's super fun and eco friendly gift wrap. They are great for bottle of wine... a special touch around a jar of flowers from the garden, a stack of books, or regular old gift box! You'll also see her new gift sacs above - SO SIMPLE and yet so super sweet!

And for those of you who are always asking us for rubber stamps... we finally found some cute ones that have just the right touch of whimsy to give as a gift for anyone of any age!

Cud's greeting cards are fantastic too - some are boxed sets and others are individual greeting cards (wouldn't the little scribble thank you's be just perfect for the kiddo's end-of-the-year teacher notes?!)

I'll be spending the day spoofing up these goodies to get them ready for you! So swing on by soon to check it all out :) I'm sure that you won't be disappointed!

Much love and many hugs,
Lizzy

Designer Spotlight: Two Trick Pony

I'm so super excited to introduce to you today an invitation album from one of my favorite favorite companies of all time: Two Trick Pony! I love the gals (ponies!) at Two Trick Pony so much - they are hilarious, fabulous, way nice and create the most beautiful paper lovelies ever. I also love that they are a local-ish company as they are based in the Metro-Boston area. Woo hoo for East Coasters!

Their brand-spanking-new album is chock full of gorgeous invitations featuring everything from fun patterns to whimsical typography to simple graphic design and all done with their unique Two Trick spin. Perhaps the best part of this album is that all the designs are screen printed* which results in uber beautiful, velvety, awesome finished pieces. Not familiar with screen printing? Well, straight from the horses mouth (ba dum ching!), here is how the ponies describe this artisan technique:

Screen printing (also known as silk screening) is a form of printmaking that creates a sharp, crisp image using a screen made of porous mesh. Areas of the screen are blocked off with a non-permeable material to create a stencil of the image to be printed. Paint-like screen printing ink is pulled over the screen with a squeegee, resulting in ink passing through the open areas of the screen onto the paper (or other material) below. Unlike many of the inks used in other printing techniques, screen printing ink tends to "sit" on the surface of paper, resulting in rich, true colors.

Pretty rad, right? We love these hand-printed pieces and are sure you'll love this album, too! Here are a few designs to whet your appetite:

*Working on a tight budget? Fear not! All the wonderful TTP designs can be digitally printed, too!

goodness gracious me....

Afternoon pals!

This past week has passed the shop like a crazy wind storm!!! I have so much to share, but don't want to overwhelm, so please please pretty please bear with me for a moment!

Goodies from the stationery show have begun to arrive... and oh my goodness gracious are they lovely! I try not to throw product up here all willy nilly, but I just can't bear to hold back from sharing these lovelies...

Linda & Harriet, a name that should be quite familiar to you all by now (because we LOVE THEM... but in case you forgot, they're a fab stationery and letterpress shop based out of Brooklyn, New York, owned and run by a lovely couple named Liz & John who design one of the all-time loveliest letterpress calendars) sent us these lovely notepads. I want one! But I feel like it would be more appropriate for me to use if my desk sat in front of a big three bay window, overlooking the seaside... have to work on that ;)

These notepads are great because they're solid white stock, and the sheets tear off nice and easy - perfect for taking calls and leaving messages!! And, they're sort of oversized, so there's lots of room for doodling which is a requirement of any and all notepads I own.

And of course, you need a good pen to write with... for taking all those notes, and writing down all of those phone numbers... and all that doodling! We've been carrying Retro pens for quite some time now, but these new ballpoint minis are the perfect pen for travel, to throw in your bag for meetings and work, and to keep tucked in your checkbook (for those of us who still carry a checkbook, that is :)

And Seltzer just came out with new designs for their 7 year pen! You wouldn't believe it, but these pens hold an ink cartridge that will write 1.7 meters, every day of the year, for SEVEN YEARS! The trick is just keeping your hands on the sucker long enough to see it run out :)

So I have this thought in my head... get yourself a new scratch pad, a new pen, some new stationery and store it in one of our fab new Smock boxes... sounds like the perfect plan, right?!

And I love these box patterns for bundling up father's day gifts (figure Dad can store all of his cards and pictures of you and the fam inside after he opens his gift!!) Just think how thrilled he'd be to get a box full of new office supplies :) ...Dad's are so hard to buy for!

And lastly, I failed to post about Cardboard Safari last week... my bad! The DIY cardboard animal busts are such a fun new product for us, and we hope that you will be as excited about them as we are.

So... pals.... meet the latest additions to our team Eyan, Bucky, and Robbie!

Aren't they fun?! I just want to bring 'em all home and spray paint 'em neon colors and hang them all over the place :)

Alright, I'll give it a rest for now! We'd love to see you all by the shop this weekend, so come on by and visit! I'll be posting more new goodies soon... so until then!

Lots of Love!

Emersonmade is BACK!

Hey there friends!

It's Friday afternoon and I cannot tell you how relieved I am that it's almost the weekend! Sam gets back from her lovely little trip to Greece early next week, and Whit will be back from printing tonight... so the gang will be together again soon! Until then, I figured I'd share a little bit of lovely from Emersonmade! We finally were able to restock their lovely, hand stitched clutches and flower pins and hope that you are as excited as we are to have them back!!

I especially love these new silkie buds they they've come up with! They are approximately 4" in diameter and would be such a great addition on a little black dress or your favorite white eyelet sundress this summer!!

We've also just gotten a handful of new greeting cards from Mr. Boddington's Studio and Blue Barnhouse Letterpress that the ladies ordered two weeks ago at the National Stationery show! Stay tuned next week as we share some of those newbies!

Happy Friday!!
Lizzyyyyy
