Designer Spotlight: Duet by Page Stationery

Remember how we told you that we'd found all sorts of new goodies and a few new albums as the stationery show this year? Well one of those fabulous new albums just arrived at our doorstep and we couldn't be happier to share it with you!

Paper hounds, please meet Duet by Page Stationery. Page Stationery, based in Richmond, VA, was originally started by designer Sue Corral in 1999 and has grown into an industry leading brand. Over the years, Page has become known for classic, timeless designs and high-quality printing. Their newest album, Duet, is a multi-faceted, mix-and-match concept album that offers gorgeous, customizable, digitally-printed designs at affordable pricing and with quick turnaround (just 5-7 business days from proof approval!).

The album contains several categories including: stationery for her, stationery for him, stationery for kids, birth announcements, shower invitations, save the dates and holiday cards. All of the designs can be customized (change colors! change fonts! turn into a party invitation, rehearsal dinner invite or graduation announcement!) and include super fun double-sided printing for a pop of graphic pattern or a beautiful full-color photo on the back. We love the mix of classic and quirky designs and we think the album is a perfect addition to our library for the design savvy and budget conscious shopper.

Need another reason to love Duet by Page Stationery?  Through the month of July, Page is offering 10% OFF all Duet album orders with a quantity of 50 or more

One of my favorite Duet designs is their "Design by Me!" personal stationery for kids. Being able to use your own child's drawn self portrait to create adorable and personal custom stationery is pretty sweet, right?

Check out just a few of the hundreds of designs that are available in the Duet album and then stop by the shop to see for yourself!

I heart little Amelia

I know I say this all the time, but we absolutely L O V E designing (and printing:) birth announcements. The lovely Christina, a fabulous designer herself, came to us last September because she didn't want to deal with the pressure/stress/time-investment involved in designing for herself, or in this case, her soon-to-be baby girl. I completely understood where she was coming from after all of the designing that went into my wedding invitations and was jazzed to get working on designs for her and hubby, Andrew. We played off a couple of fabrics she had picked out for the nursery (sorry I don't have swatches to share) and a color palette of warm yellow and light aqua. After just a couple of rounds of proofs we settled on a super sweet design that incorporated a whimsical, hand-drawn pattern and my handwriting for the name.

I think my favorite part of the whole suite was the flat social note card we designed so that Amelia could send thank you notes (via mommy & daddy, obv.) for all of her new-arrival gifts. You're never too young to have personal stationery!

Ummm... I just had to share a few pictures of the beautiful Amelia. She is literally the cutest and coolest (see last picture) baby girl I have ever seen.

Birth announcements for a future fisherman

Birth announcements are one of my absolute favorite projects, mostly because the designs are so freaking cute (almost as cute as the babies that inspire them), but the main reason is because in comparison to the number of wedding invitations I design, birth announcements seem like a rarity. This particular design was inspired by the father's love for fishing. He's borderline obsessed with it and lucky for him, his first-born is a boy (which in my mind means that Dad has a better chance of taking his kid fishing than if he was a she, not to stereotype or anything).

Instead of going over the top on the announcement with the fish theme we decided to keep it quite simple using a rusty orange ink, a monogram and simple border and incorporated the fish using an envelope liner. We bought the Flora & Fauna Marine Fish & Irish Algae Wrapping Paper from Paper-Source and trimmed it down into about 8 liners per sheet so that there were a bunch of different cropped images from the 1 large design. What I love most about the liners is that the images aren't small detailed fish illustrations. The fish are so large on the original sheet that when they are trimmed down you see these crazy big eyes or detailed scales. The immediate thought when you open the envelope isn't necessarily that it's lined with fish drawings - it takes a few seconds to realize what you're looking at.

While I was initially a bit put off by the idea of designing around fish (realistic fish, not cutesy cartoon-like fish), I was thrilled with our end result! Take a peek:
