I fell in love with this wedding over the weekend

Brace yourselves. This wedding is amaaaaaaazing! Aside from the fact that the groom is adorable and the bride is gorgeous, the duo did everything themselves. EVERYthing. What are the chances that A.K. and I will have a wedding that's this much fun? I'm guessing pretty slim.

(she made the dress herself!)
(and the flags)
(how gorgeous is she? oh, and she made the veil too)
(omg, look at him! A.K., you better cry like this!)(can't stand it)(of course they had a photo booth... complete with plenty of props)

New products on etsy!

It never fails. Every day, someone comes in and asks for a Gus & Ruby original. Each time I print a wedding invitation or a birth announcement and have the press inked and ready to go, I always throw on another plate or two and try to whip out some fun little items. So if you don't live near Portsmouth and can't come in to shop, head on over to our etsy store and pick up you're own G&R original!

Sign Me Up!

Wahoo - our sign was installed. She's a real beaut, isn't she Clark? (Obscure National Lampoons Christmas Vacation reference for my faves.)

We see you there, sneaky dude.

Finger Lickin' Fridays: CuisineNie

Have y'all heard for the Nie Nie Dialogues? I bet a bunch of you have - it's one of the most inspirational, touching, love-filled, humbling blogs out there. Stephanie Nielson and her husband, Christian, started a blog about their family (4 adorbs kiddos!) to keep friends and family in the loop. Stephanie's writing is sweet, loving and positive.

She had a plethora of followers already, but after and she her husband were in a horrific small-plane accident that left them both very badly burned, the blog has become a well-known source of inspiration in the online world. Stephanie was in a coma for a long time and has extensive burns over a majority of her body that have required drastic skin grafts and have resulted in a debilitating and slow recovery.

Well - the silver lining here is that the real world and blog world absolutely banded together and spread the word about Stephanie and Christian's plight; the outpouring of donations and support has been amazing. More amazing, though, is the indomitable spirit that this family has. Stephanie, after months off in which her family maintained her blog through re-posts of old pieces, returned to the blog and has allowed us to follow her and her family's journey through life, recovery and finding the good and lovely amidst the sad and trying. Truly an inspirational family; Stephanie is one heck of an amazing writer, mother, wife, artist and all-around-wowza woman! You go, girl!

One other supa' cool piece about Stephanie is that she cooks! And well! Her other blog, CuisineNie is chock full of delicious sounding recipes and foodie projects. I'm totally loving it right now. How delicious do these salmon pesto burgers look?? Yum!

So, this Friday I'm remembering what a delicious life I have, how fortunate I am and how even in the face of hardship we can find joy and laughter. Pretty yummy, right? Happy weekend, peeps!

A little Guy time.

(Photo of super hip dinner party imprintable invitations courtesy of Urban Bark Paper.)

I just want to say: Whitney and I love guys. We really do! OK, ok - now don't get ahead of yourself here. Of course we love the various men in our personal lives - fathers, brothers, significant others, friends, whatnot. But what I mean to say is that we love men, boys, guys, dudes - in the store. As customers. Some of our most favorite customers are men. Men who are into stationery? Is there a better combo!? We think not.

We are constantly striving to fill the store with a variety of items that will appeal to a variety of tastes - women and men, simple and ornate, colorful and neutrals, functional and frivolous.
So why not highlight a few things we have in the shop that our male customers have really been digging. They are hip, non-girly and functional. Perfect for the design-savvy guy at work or home. Stop in to see!
